# StateJar for Android

> The Android app is being built and is not on Google Play yet, so there is nothing to install today. What works on a phone now, what the app will do, how it is built, and what it will never do.

## The short answer

- **The app is not available yet.** It is being built. It is not on Google Play, and no installable file is offered anywhere. When it is published, this page will link to its Google Play listing.
- **On a phone today, use statejar.com in your browser.** The console works there: your dashboard, the Playground, developer keys, your memory and its audit trail. Your browser's menu can also add statejar.com to your home screen. It then opens on your dashboard without the browser's address bar.
- **The app will use the same account and the same memory as the website.** Nothing moves to a new place: it is the website's own app in a native shell, talking to the same API.

## What the app will do

These are planned, in this order, and none of them is released yet:

1. Sign in, and the Playground's chat.
2. Your memory: its versions, the handle of each one and the audit trail.
3. Edit a fact, forget one, export your data and delete your account.

Until then, use the website: a new message in the [Playground](/playground) changes a fact or forgets one ("Forget the budget."), and [Delete account](/delete-account) removes your account and everything it holds.

## How it is built

- **One app, two places.** The app is the website's own React app, packaged with Capacitor 8. The screens and the design are the website's.
- **Its own name.** The Android package is `com.statejar.app`.
- **One server.** It talks to `api.statejar.com` over HTTPS only. Plain HTTP is switched off, and so is mixed content.
- **No cloud copies.** Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are switched off for the app's data, so its storage stays on your phone.
- **Your session in the Android Keystore** (planned). The website keeps your session in the browser. The app will keep it in a key held by the Android Keystore, which a web page cannot reach.
- **No tracking code.** Its libraries are Capacitor and the AndroidX libraries Capacitor's template uses. It has no analytics or advertising library.

## Payments

You will not be able to buy a plan in the app, now or later. Plans are sold only on the website, and billing there is closed for now: every account is on the Free plan ([Pricing and payments](/docs/pricing-and-payments.html)).

## Your data

The app reads and writes the same account as the website, under the same rules: facts are stored, transcripts are not, and every disclosure is in the audit trail. The [privacy page](/privacy) covers the website today, and gains a section for the app before the app is published.

## Questions

**When will it be on Google Play?** When it is ready and has been through Google Play's testing. There is no date yet. This page will link to the listing on the day it is public.

**Can I install it from a file?** No. The only build that will be offered is the one on Google Play.

**Is there an iPhone app?** No. Only the Android app is being built. On an iPhone, statejar.com works in the browser and can be added to the home screen.

**Will it cost anything?** No. The app is free, and plans are never sold in it.

**Something else?** Write to us from the [contact page](/contact).
